Bradford, Airedale and Craven patients are fortunate to have dedicated eyecare professionals who use our community services to help manage patients in practice or refer to Ophthalmology when required.
The new Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) uses the skills of Optometrists in the community to see and treat patients presenting with a minor eye condition. Management will be maintained within the primary care setting for as many patients as possible – avoiding unnecessary referrals to hospital services.
We have a very good uptake of practices using the Referral Refinement Scheme, OHTMS, Cataract Referral and Post Cataract community services. These pathways are fee paying and further details on protocols, forms and claiming are available under the appropriate heading.
If you are new to the area and are keen to get involved then please contact our secretary who will provide you with further information.
